Hey, how are ya? My name is JM Lacombe and I am veteran wedding photographer with over 10 years of experience. A recent transplant to Vancouver and the lower mainland, I spent a large chunk of my years living and working in Montréal. I miss it dearly, but the West Coast is certainly growing on me.

I believe that wedding photography, above all else, should be a comfortable and unpretentious experience, rooted in respect and friendship between photographer and subject. Truly, any aesthetic or emotional truth that ripples out from my images is almost always facilitated by a tangible connection to the people I work with. This drives my work, and in turn allows me to better capture and document moments of immense emotional resonance. I'm looking to meet with folks I relate with, forge some kind of bond, and ultimately tell their story in a way that feels true to everyone involved.

It's important to consider that my wedding photography will never be an exhaustive, catch all experience. I don't think it should be. It is a highly curated personal impression — born of mutual trust, and of course, a good bit of my aesthetic sense. I want to be the empathetic lens through which you remember this most important of days, not a cold, unfeeling observer.

I find that this approach works best within the confines of intimate events - the kind that bring around a hundred people or fewer together to celebrate within a framework of respect for community and the environment. But this isn't a hard and fast rule. If the images or words on this site speak to you somehow, then we should probably talk.

ARCTURUS is the name I've chosen to represent my wedding photography work going forward. It is the brightest star in the northern constellation of Boötes, a waypoint in the sky that quite literally connects me to places I’ve called home, and to people and things I hold dear. May the images we make together connect you to what matters.
